TikTok Smart+ Platform Launched
In a recent newsroom update, TikTok introduced new advertising solutions designed to help brands launch ad campaigns more easily and at a lower cost. These solutions were first announced during Advertising Week on Monday, with the standout feature being the Smart+ platform. This performance automation tool can manage entire ad campaigns based on the brand’s needs.
Brands simply need to provide their assets, budget, and goals. The Smart+ platform will automatically generate and select the most suitable creative assets, identify the right audience, and display the ad in a way that encourages users to click on it. Notably, these creative assets are produced using TikTok Symphony.
TikTok has reported that its internal testing shows the Smart+ platform delivers a 52% increase in return on ad spend. The platform features three main AI-powered workflows.

The first is Smart+ Web Campaigns, which manages complete ad campaigns aimed at driving traffic to advertisers’ websites while minimizing the number of steps needed for users to reach those sites. It includes a related workflow called Smart+ Catalog Ads, which automatically displays relevant product recommendations based on users’ interests, intent, and actions on the app.
The second workflow is Smart+ App Campaigns, which leverages TikTok’s discovery features to boost app installs and conversions.
Next, the Smart+ Lead Generation Campaigns workflow allows advertisers to convert interested audiences—those who have shown a preference for similar products and services—into customers using native lead generation tools.
Additionally, TikTok has launched Out of Phone: Retail, an in-store digital advertising solution. This feature enables brands and retailers to showcase both organic and branded TikTok content in their physical locations. TikTok claims this will help connect online engagement with in-store purchasing decisions.

Google Docs Introduces ‘Document Tabs’ Feature for Better File Organization
Google has introduced a new feature for users of Google Docs. The Document Tabs feature, now available in the web editor, enhances the existing Document Outline tool, which primarily focuses on headlines. With Document Tabs, users can easily add tabs to their Google Docs, making it simpler to view, edit, and organize their documents.
This feature was initially announced alongside several AI enhancements at Google’s Cloud Next 2024 event in April. Now, Google Docs is rolling out Document Tabs to users. After the update, you’ll see a new option labeled ‘Show tabs and outlines’ in the web editor, replacing the previous ‘Show outline’ option.
Once selected, the new feature adds a column on the left side of the document where you can create tabs (or sections) for your Google Docs file. This not only enhances functionality but also improves how users visualize the document’s overall structure, allowing them to see the complete layout—including tabs and subtabs—at a glance. The tab system makes it easier to navigate through the document.
Initially, users will see ‘Tab 1,’ and they can add more tabs, customize them, and even create subtabs. According to Google, tabs can be linked, enabling users to share specific tabs rather than the entire document. Additionally, users can personalize tab headings by incorporating emojis.
Although the rollout of the Document Tabs feature has already started, Google notes that it may take up to 15 days for some users to see the update. During the full rollout, scheduled to begin on October 21, 2024, the feature should appear within 1 to 3 days. Document Tabs will be available to all Google Workspace customers, Google Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
